More power....lol. Sounds great, but the roadtax is brutal and combined with a heavy foot, I'm afraid it would be too dear. Awesome car though!

Emmissions are higher for the 2.0T according to specs on Parkers. Fuel consumption virtually the same.

I have a slight doubt about the T5 drinking close as the 2.0T (or 2.4/2.5T for that matter). The T5 has the larger turbo and is not at its best in city driving. Perhaps on open road, but inside the city the T5 should use more petrol. Now it is possible to find a 2.0T that has an issue and consumes more, but generally speaking the small turbos use less petrol than the larger one in traffic. The non turbo petrol already gets some 25mpg in traffic, and it's the more economical of the petrol engines.

The only reason to not get a T5 is if it's after march 2006. The tax is killer. Prior to that it makes sense to get a T5 over the slower models as running costs are identical

Not true, that’s only relevant for the UK/NI. The poster is in RoI where I believe they have a punitive tax regime on ‘fun’ vehicles.

At worst case looks like an extra 370 euros per annum due to the larger engine.
The poster may confirm this.

I am lead to believe that the MPG an all turbo petrol P2s is pretty much the same (i.e not great but liveable).

My 2.0T was actually pretty good on the motorway if you stuck to 70mph.

Though the 2.5T low pressure turbo reconfigured in the S40 is absolutely horrendous on fuel, again I'm lead to believe that the 220bhp LPT is worse on fuel than 260bhp 2.4 HPT T5.
