Complete dashboard replacement
I am in the process of replacing the complete dashboard in one of my 850’s. The car looks like a bomb has gone off. Not sure if I can get all back together again at the moment. 😟

Of course you can, it really is one of the more simple dashes to disassemble - and put back together! Takes a lot of patience, especially with old and brittle plastics though...

I was listening to the dashboard mice chattering away as I drove home just now and started to think perhaps I should pop the dash out and sort them out. But then I thought about all the little bits to unplug and unscrew and the brittle plastic etc etc, and I figure they can go on squeaking for a bit longer yet

Although I unplugged everything when I took my dash out, (as I was replacing the dash with another one and needed to swap the wiring loom), there is no need to unplug most of it, as there is a main plug under the dashboard that just pulls out, which holds all the wiring going into the main loom.
It can be a head scratcher and does take several hours of careful consideration to the parts, but I have managed it. I had to replace the small cog in the odometer while it was all out and replace the fan, as it was on its last legs.

All finished. Just need the catch putting in for the glove box to stay up
It’s not everyone’s taste having the wood effect but I think it just adds a bit of style especially against the darker interior.
