Default Alloy Wheel Swop Anyone?

My boss has a 2002 V70 2.4 170 SE with standard fit 'Thor' 17 inch alloy wheels. He would actually prefer to have 16 inchers instead (such as Mimas or Electras?) as he does lots of Motorway miles and would prefer the slightly better ride comfort the 16 inchers would give.

Would anyone with 16" Volvo alloys be interested in a swop? The Thor wheels fill the arches a bit better and would appear to upgrade an S60 or V70 'S' to look like an 'SE'.

Condition of his is fair - a few parking dings as you would expect from a 50k+ mile car. Condition of tires not known but they will be something like Pirellis.

Would these Thor alloys fit a '96 850? - would 16" alloys from a '96 850 T5 fit a 2002 V70?

Sory for delay in responding!

I would think so but I would need to do some research. What tyre size are they running?

Did the 96 T5 really run on 16 inchers? I thought it had huge wheels!

Hi Nigel,

I will ask the boss what he has got tread-wise and get photos from him of the wheels. I will be back in touch when I have spoken with him.

Cheers!

Sorry to report that when I approached my Boss with the solution to the problem, he has declined to persue further.

I can understand this as the 'fiddle factor' in changing the wheels and ensuring the insurance is not affected combined with the possible change in it's second-hand value with the smaller wheels meant it was a no-goer.

Thank you for you interest though.

Very much appreciated.
