Default Radio repair - disconnect battery?

My radio ICM needs to be sent off for repair. I really don't want to get the airbag light etc on the dash when taking it out.
Should i disconnect the battery to remove it, and leave it disconnected until I refit it? Thanks

I think you only run the risk of issues of you turn the ignition on with it disconnected however it is best practice to disconnect the batter -ve lead and if you are not going to be using the car, leave it off.

Advice taken! The battery lead is off while my ICM is off for repair.
