Default Self Levelling Suspension trouble

Hi all,

It seems that my runabout workhorse seems to have self levelling rear shocks - which have died and look rather expensive to replace when viewed alongside the standard versions - (£70++ as against £14 each)

Is it possible to convert the car to non-self levelling and thus put cheaper shockers on ?

I presume that you are talking about The Melamine Wardrobe. Yes it is possible to fit normal shocks to your car. But if you want to go down that road you will need to change the springs to standard as well. They should cost about the same as the shocks, perhaps a little more. The reason is that the springs used with self-levelling systems are softer than the standard springs.

All the best, Peter

Thanks Peter,

You are correct in your assumption - the white monster it is !
On a personal note - I didn't realise you could have so much fun for sooooo little money !!! :7

So far the melamine wardrobe has cost me £270 including a tank of fuel, road tax and some engine mounts !!!! She always starts, never complains and carries anything !! All this for the price of a service for my 850 ! x(

Thanks for the advice, speak to you all soon,

Jim
