Towbar wiring - 12N socket
I have just purchased a 1993 240SE with a Volvo towbar that appears to have been factory or dealer fitted. When I hooked up my caravan to the 12N socket some of the lights/indicators don't work. I have traced the cable back under the dash and someone has disconnected some of the wires. There is a brown wire and a purple wire that look as if they should connect to the fusebox - but which terminal? Can anyone help? I have a caravan holiday booked next weekend.:-(

RE: Towbar wiring - 12N socket
What are the corresponding 12N cable colours? knowing this you will know which lights are affected and where to place the loose wires. However it is possible that the wires may have been used for a foglight cutout switch equipped 12N connector. Most 12N wiring is carried out at the rear light loom(s) and is spliced in but if your car has a bulb failure module you need to splice in upstream of this module which may also be the reason for the wires under the dash. Anyway let us know the 12N pins/colours that are affected and help will come winging it's way to you. All the best, Peter |

RE: Towbar wiring - 12N socket
Thanks to Jack Cluer, Member Technical Assistance who supplied the answer enabling me to leave for my holiday on time.
The answer was Purple to fuse 6 and brown to fuse 16. |
