Default Simons exhaust

Has anyone on the forum tried the Simons stainless steel sports exhaust on their T5?
I'm contemplating buying one for my '99 C70 T5 GT, but would love to hear of someone elses experience before committing myself.
I'm really not after an exhaust that's louder than stock. I guess that's a consequence of turning 40 later this year!! Yup, getting old and in no way interested in an obnoxiously loud exhaust note. What I would like though, is a slightly deeper note. Something vaguely more gruff. But not tiring on linger journeys. You get the picture...
Would I be happy with a Simons or not?

Hmmmm... so no one from the forum has any experience with Simons exhaust systems??

This is what I'm looking at:
http://www.simons.se/products/sports...vo/c70/c70/405

Waaaaaay back in the day when I still lived in Denmark, I used to always buy a 2" Simons sports exhaust for all the old BMW 2002's I ran back then. They were great!! Not too loud, but just with a nice crisp rasp to them. But this was donkeys years ago!! Would love to hear from someone with more current experience with Simons and preferably even on a T5 engined Volvo...

And how about that downpipe?? Should I change that too for something better than the stock item on my C70? And if so, which one is the best to buy?

Any input would be much appreciated...

If you want performance without the noise I would suggest a jetex system.

Thx Martin!

It's quite amusing though - if you have a thorough look at the Simons and the Jetex exhaust, they appear exactly the same!
Exact same dimensions, same tailpipe, and even the pic used of the exhaust on the Simons website and on the Jetex website appears to be the exact same picture.
Could it be that it is indeed the exact same exhaust being sold under two different brands??

Default Exhausts.

Simons is a brand name of a Swedish company, these exhausts are sold here in the UK under the Jetex brand name and are also sold branded as BSR.... all exactly the same.

Ray Metallfabrick AB are the holding company. Their website: http://www.ray.se/English/Eindex.htm

Don.

See that explains a lot!
Don, so how do you rate them?
Bare in mind, I'm keen to keep the db close to stock, but just get a slightly gruntier (is that even a word...??) and deeper note.
But from a quality and performance perspective, are they worth the effort?
