Another suggestion is a failed fuel regulator? I have no means to test the latter other than buying another one!

Failed FPR you can usually test by having the engine idling and pull off the small bore vacuum hose from it, putting your thumb over the end of the hose to prevent it stalling. If you hear the engine note change, however slightly, the FPR is probably ok but either way, you shouldn't see any fuel dripping out of the stub on the FPR. Could also be leaky injectors, have you tried running some injector cleaner through it?

Not sure how to test the TPS? I've read about adjusting with a feeler gauge but that's possibly beyond my DIY ability. No fuel from FPR and it does seem to suck a little when you pull the hose off. I think one injector may leak slightly or it did historically however I would expect that to impact general running and it runs extremely well, just not at idle. Most folk say ignore it but I find it irritating and it can quickly coke up if left labouring, as they did at the MOT station.

Have a read of that page of that thread Vicky, particularly post #163, i've explained there how to set up the TPS so it clicks when the throttle butterfly is returned to idle. If we still need to test it afterwards, there is a test involving 3 short lengths of wire - might even be mentioned in there somewhere.
