My radio has decided not too work then it decides to work. I can insert a cd it will come on but no sound. it goes through all the tracks in silent mode but sometimes all of a sudden it comes on loud and it don't arf make you jump. it will play several tracks, let you change tracks and disappear again. The radio is the same silence then all of a sudden Jeremy vine is shouting at you.
Is it time to replace.

Sorry, can't help with an answer but as I was scanning the threads I wondered why you were asking if your husband had died!

I'll be off to specsavers...

Time to take it out and examine the connections and clean them with contact cleaner. More often that is reasonable taking apart and reassembling fixes things. Don't forget to disconnect the battery after a 15 mins wait before going in otherwise you risk putting up an SRS flag.

There is a guy on the Volvo owners Facebook forum who repairs these, it’s quite a common issue. I don’t know his name unfortunately but you may be able to find out on there.

It is a common issue and happened to us exactly the same. It also rendered the RTI nav useless. I had to take it out of the car and send it for a refurb to these folks.

They fixed and returned it within a few days for £200 odd as I recall. Absolutely fine since.
