Following this thread I decided to check my assumption that my XC60 D4 SE has the 4 cyl, 2L, VEA. Well the V5C doesn't help much:
MY 07/14
Ver DZ73C1??
1969cc
CO2 - 117g/kg

It's late and dark so I haven't physically gone out and checked the engine so all I have to go on is only the VEA had CO2 as low as that!

I can only assume that Volvo's motivation in making such a confusing array of model designations was to focus the purchasing owners to buy on appearance alone! Sadly it's yet another example of how far the Volvo marque has deviated from it's origins as it has been sold and absorbed into subsequent multi national Corps.

It's not that I doubt you but it would be very useful if you could quote a Volvo source for this revised interval, as others have said 6 years and on Monday the Volvo dealer performing my annual service denied any knowledge of it having reduced from 144k miles!

you will just have to trust me i've been working with volvos for 45 years and fully up to date as to what is what . There is a heck of a lot of hearsay information floating around on here too .
Any dealer service department who fobs you off with any other answer is misleading you and has not been trained properly . the interval was changed in may 2019 .
contact Volvo customer services .. for confirmation and tell them your story ..👍

Actually I do trust you and I'm sorry if it appeared that I was suggesting otherwise. Plus I'm hugely grateful for your frequent replies and technical input!

Nevertheless the point I'm making is that your posts here on this forum cannot be quoted as fact when having a discussion with a Volvo service advisor and may be conveniently dismissed as 'car forum hearsay' when push comes to shove as a disagreement develops.

If only there was an official Volvo source that could be quoted...

I've always thought that Clan is an official Volvo source.

When I informed the Service receptionist last year that I had discovered on this forum that the Cam belt change interval had changed for the VEA engine he stated he wasn't aware of it. He then tapped away to check and confirmed that yes it had indeed changed. So there must be some form of official documentation on the Volvo system the service dept, use.

It's ok :-)

Just confirm with volvo customer service and explain your situation that dealers are not giving the correct information , They will have heard it all before .
and should send out a reminder message to them all .
