Bluetooth hands free question
Hi there, new (used) xc60 r design owner here. Wondered if anyone could identify this Bluetooth hands free. I can get my phone paired and manage calls with it but no music streaming. Its a 2012 plate xc60 in case that makes a difference.

There are different 'types' or standards of Bluetooth. Older devices used Hands Free Profile which is a basic hands free protocol, whereas newer devices use a2dp which can also be used for streaming audio.
I suspect you have one of the older devices so you'll probably need a newer Bluetooth adapter or transmitter to stream music.

Turns out after a few days "music" has now appeared in the list of options. However, the quality is so terrible (appears to be a separate speaker from the sound system) that it's not worth using at all. Can see it getting ripped out sadly.

I had a 2010 with the missing music streaming, my solution was to buy a small bluetooth transmitter that plugged into the aux socket. Not ideal but cheap and better than having to plug the phone in each time I got in.

That's my plan in the short term. I've a pure dab thing that can go in but I'll wait till I can get someone to wire it in properly and rip out this Bluetooth thing while they're at it.

Probably playing the music from a hands free kit speaker look under the dash driver and passenger you may find a speaker there it may have the name on it and a control box behind glovebox. |

The weird thing is that it comes up volvo when it loads. Now I've got it playing music it's so very disappointing it needs to come out. Bit of a pain that.
