MY 2011 XC90 Bluetooth question
Hi, I’m new to Volvo and new to this forum. (Enjoying both)
My question is: I have recently got myself a nice MY2011 xc90 se lux. It has Bluetooth phone connectivit, but am I able to play music from my phone on the cars audio system?? If not what’s the best way to do this/what are your solution to this? Thanks in advance Ben |

I have this very issue and still looking for a solution. I have rear dvds so I can't use aux and let the kids listen to their dvd at same time so I end up listening to the radio which has poor reception in mine!
I've found a lead that apparently converts android usb to work on the apple usb socket fitted to the car but at £50 and with missed reviews I'm dubious. Them you can pay £250 for a gom box to be fitted but again reviews are mixed on usability. I'm at a loss with this. I like to stream from Amazon so don't have music saved anywhere to use a flash drive etc. |

Their video for other P2 based cars was excellent so I fitted the Grom myself on my S60. Straightforward, cost about £120 and still works great after 5 years.

What you want would be a up-to-date BT connection to your car stereo. I'm in the same situation, as I didn't even have Aux-In in my MY2005... The problem is, any usable way is circumventing the car stereo, meaning you are loosing the full features from Volvo and use only a normal stereo signal... If you get into the bus system, so using the car stereo, with a Grom or Dension or a cheap chinese device, you can only rely on an emulated CD changer. This means, you need to use a complicated CD-menu to control your music. Another thing is, you can make your own Aux-In in soldering something inbetween the FM antenna of the car. This simply disables FM when you send a signal on the line. To change back to radio, you need to stop the sound on the new Aux-In. Next problem with this, you loose the surround functionality, as it only is active, when you get a digital signal. FM is analog, regardless where the signal comes from... What I'd like to have is a tablet, that superseeds my RTI nav, and gives me connectivity (for me its AmazonMusic as well) via the hotspot from the mobile phone... Only I haven't found a solution to get the sound from the tablet to the bus system... One last thing sounds promising, but tbh I'm out of patience, as still no eta is announced or even visible at the horizon: https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=261575

I wasn't sure, because I don't normally use that function, but just checked it now. Cheers Dave |

Just plug in a streaming BT audio receiver to the AUX IN port. That's what I do. Cost 10 USD.

The 2011 model actually came out in late 2010 and was the first to get the 200PS engine |

Yeah - I'm still not sure which year because the handbook with the car (Exec model) states I have the refrig storage box in the centre armrest - which I don't.
Cheers Dave |
