Clutch occasional fault!
1993 940 with hydraulic clutch.
It's happened twice now, clutch pedal to the floor, clutch engages but abruptly ... gives me palpitations ... few seconds later and the clutch is working normally as if nothing was ever wrong. Once was in Aldi carpark going from reverse to first. I thought the cable had snapped! Then it was working again ... confusing. Second time was a warm car, going from third to fourth gently, lowish revs, straight road. Less of a panic, hasn't happened since. I'm going to have a look at the fluid as the first-stop to detect the problem, I might want to buy some of that there really good synthetic modern stuff before I do ... Recommendations here??

The brake fluid reservoir is still completely full, (smells of fish though)
Sam at the garage says the fluids are all Dot4, buy any of them. I plan on draining the reservoir and refilling with fresh then bleeding the clutch only...

Have you got a Gunsons Easibleed? Makes life much quicker and easier, especially with ABS - you'll need about 2-2.5L of new fluid to do the lot. If the fluid hasn't been changed in the past 2 years, i strongly advise you change it or it might not be just the clutch that gives trouble!

No wonder it smells of fish! In that time it's probably absorbed enough water to develop its own marine life microcosm in there!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water! Sure there will be some alien life-forms in there!

Dammit I still haven't sucked out the old goop, replaced and bled it.
Need some peer-pressure.
