Default small oil leak

I have a small oil leak under the front driver side. overnight there are usually two small patches of oil about 2 inches apart about the size of a 50 pence piece, I have taken my car to 3 mechanics so far and none of them could find the leak. When I put some paper cardboard underneath the drops seem to drip every half an hour or so. I had a new vvt pulley replaced about a month ago but the oil only started dripping about a week or so after. since then I have had the oil and filter changed from kwik fit but still the oil leak is there. other than this the car drive well. I would be much obliged if some one could advise.

Is it diff/pas fluid or engine oil? it is easy to tell the two oils apart, one is sweet smelling and red/brown the other oil will be the engine oil.

what engine is it you have? is it a turbo? if so could be the O-ring on the oil return pipe.

If the oil leak is to the far left of the engine (looking at the engine) under the pulleys, it could be one of the oil seals(camshaft etc) that is weeping.

In your opinion what do you think might happen if I ignore it, like one of the mechanics said it might slow down or stop by it self, or do you think I should take it to a Volvo specialist who might charge an arm and a leg. At the moment it just seems to be two small drops after an evenings parking.

not to sure about 1.6, but with the petrol 2.0l + turbos I am 90% sure ay least one of the VTT pulleys uses engine oil for lubication - can check tomorrow in VADIS - I would get the top cover off the left side of the engine and have a good look in there - if its wet you need to go back to the garage that did your VTT pulley

Did the leak get worse or better after the oil change ? - could just be the oil filter casing ... its at the front left of the engine.
