Default Swap xc70 hu-803 for s60 hu-803 problems

Hello all,

I have just picked up a 2005 xc70 which came without a radio. The seller gave me some bollocks about the CD player not working but I wasn't really fussed as I have an s60 with an hu-803 which I am breaking, so I thought I could simply install that and be done.

I had a look around the car and the connections at the back of the radio are the same (antenna, green block and small grey for power), also the speaker amp is present under the drivers seat, but nothing seems to want to work.

I can only get sound from the centre speaker in the dash (with 3ch or dolby pl enabled), the steering wheel remote doesn't work (which I was expecting) and I just can't seem to fit the damned thing into the dash. I removed the mounting bracket and cup holder but even so it won't slide all the way into the opening.

I read some threads about the hidden menus and some made reference to being able to program the unit to swap between v and s cars, but I can't seem to find any useful information.

If anyone has had any prior experience with this or could shed some light I'd much appreciated it, cheers!

Did it have a HU-803 in it from the factory originally? - I suppose you just have a hole in the dash so don't know but the fact it won't fit might be the reason.

AM asking because I have a 2005 XC70 and it has a HU-850. It broke, as they invariably do after a few years and I replaced it with one from a scrapyard - another HU-850. Straight swap, no programming required and steering wheel controls all worked ok.
