Default Amazon 121 for sale

After much deliberation I have finally decided to sell my Amazon. I will probably regret it but I need the space for other projects.

1968 Amazon 121 two door saloon. 91000 miles, I am the 3rd owner.
Originally B18 + 4 speed gearbox, now fitted with B20 engine and overdrive gearbox.

I have used this car as a daily driver for the last 6+ years; although to be honest my annual mileage is quite low and so I probably spend more time fettling and cleaning than actually driving it.

Main spec details are:-

Fully rebuilt B20 engine 3000 miles ago. Almost everthing new - rebore, shells, oil pump, D cam and followers, head skimmed, new valves and seats (unleaded) steel timing gears.
Fitted with single SU carb, K+N filter, new clutch, flywheel skimmed, new engine and gearbox mounts.
M41 gearbox, rebuilt with new bearings. J type Laycock overdrive, rebuilt with new bearings and seals. Propshaft shortened and rebuilt with new joints.

Electrical mods:- alternator, push button start, single wipe switch, Halogen headlamps, horns via relay, blade type main fuse.

Stainless bumpers, towbar, Simons Sports exhaust, original Volvo radio, Cobra supaslot alloys. I also fitted new rear springs and dampers a while back.

The car is in good order throughout and is much admired locally. The previous owner fitted new front wings, otherwise nothing major seems to have been done. Minor blemishes and touch up repairs as expected for a 45 year old car!

The car is very sound underneath. Chromework is excellent everywhere except for minor blemishes to rear side windows but I have a spare set with excellent chrome. More bits and pieces also included.

Overall a brilliant car for daily use or weekend shows.

£4300. Please pm or call 07901 584098.

Cheers, Mick

Nice looking car at a very reasonable price. If i was in the market to buy, i would certainly be coming to view.I also use my car regularly though not daily as i have to have a company car!!!
I also occasionally wonder if the old cars are worth the time required to keep on top of things.I dont follow sport, you do need a hobby, mine has always been old cars, keeps me out of the pub (occasionally)
Good luck with the sale, will be nice to hear from the new owner on this Forum.

Your 121 looks very nice. Do you have the original wheels for the car?

I do have a set of steel wheels with chrome hub caps and trims for the car. Very good condition and good tyres.
They were promised to a club member in the event that I sold the car, so I'll get in touch with him first to see if he still wants them.
If not then I will let you know.

Do you have any more interior shots?

Hi Mick,
we spoke on the phone the other day and I wished you well with the sale and also questioned you on the cobra slots.
If you sell the car and the slots become available please contact me on andy.can@btinternet.com I would love em' for my Amazon!

As requested, more interior shots of the car.
The front seats are very good, one small stitching repair needed on the passenger side - just starting to split. It's been that way though since I bought it. The seats are very comfortable on any length of journey.
Rear seats slightly damaged and scuffed, apparently by the previous owner's dog being allowed in there once or twice. There is no damage to the backs of the front seats though.
Dash in good condition, just starting to show splits.
The carpets are not original, but seem to be some axminster offcuts. Quite a good pile though, very comfy!
Everything works except the rev-counter gives up at 1000 rpm. Might be a dodgy earth?

Other stuff:
Andy, I think the Cobra wheels will go with the car, but if they don't you will be the first to know!

Chris, "you do need a hobby", quite right too, I spend too much time tinkering with old bikes (need to be Italian or British though) or making swarf on the lathe.

One buyer potentially in the fray, thanks for the interest.

Mick

The car is still for sale.
The potential buyer did not materialise. Travel distance too far.
