Default Front position lamps

Quick question re position lamps - I.m looking for an 850 or V70, and whilst checking MOT history on some V70's, I've noticed a common fault / trait
Nearside Front position lamp(s) not working (1.1.A.3b)
Offside Front position lamp(s) not working (1.1.A.3b)
On one car, it appears on EVERY MOT going back through all of its MOT history, so what is this ? does that mean that it just gets a temporary fix to get it through its MOT, or is it something else ?
It does come up on a few V70 MOT history that I've checked.

Not sure if that would be an advisory, as the sidelights are separate - they would result in a fail if they were out.

I bought a Discovery a few years ago and both orange front marker lamps were out - when I pointed it out to the seller, he said he didn't even know about them! I guess if only one is working its a bit more obvious lol.

Default Old Volvos right and left indicator lamp bulbs

If "position" lamps are indicator lamps, the orange coating on the bulb fades or flakes off, so they aren't orange enough to pass the MoT. These bulbs last 15 years or more (and we know Volvo drivers have a reputation of not using indicators very much!).

If the 'position lamp' is referring to the 5w sidelight bulb in the headlight they do tend to get overheated and the bulbholder can deteriorate, so maybe an inherent fault, change the 5w bulbs for led would probably solve it.

A front position lamp has been the correct legal term for a "sidelight" since 1989. They are the low wattage front facing lamps intended to denote the presence and width of the vehicle, separate from daytime running lamps, dipped or main beam headlamps.

Front position lamps are what were originally known as side lights. On the 850 they were fitted within the same housing as the indicators

If owners would do a basic check of lights before submitting there car for an MOT the position lamp failures could easily be avoided

I can't say for sure on an 850, but on my V70 they are definitely low-wattage bulbs located in the headlight assembly, not the indicators. Never seen them in the indicators on these cars?
