200 Series General Forum for the Volvo 240 and 260 cars

  • VOC Members: There is no login facility using your VOC membership number or the details from page 3 of the club magazine. You need to register in the normal way

I suppose for various reasons. Excessive enthusiasm in upgrading? Incompetence in one or more owners or garages? it might have become heard of now to have the head off more than five times. And there's the stretch issue. Hey ho.

Ok chaps,being a long time mechanic,of over 35 years
Thought i would ask the question,as the 240 is old skool(just like me)and back then we didn't have really have stretch bolts on 'proper' engines,but being the last of the 240's,wasn't sure.

Many thanks for the confirmation.I can now get on with the job in hand,as in the current climate,do not wan't to be needlessly spending money out.

If you need to take the head off more than five times,you likely need a new cylinder head,never mind bolts!!
