Annoying rattle from strut top?
I have been trying to diagnose and fix an annoying rattle. Thought it was ARB links so changed them. Nope.
Ball joints appear to be in good fettle, no movement etc. When driving it comes from top side front passenger, so could this be the strut top?.is there a bearing mount, or something like that? It mainly.happens on slightly uneven roads, not going over bumps etc and is definitely more of a rattle than a knock, but a deep rattle not like a brake pad rattle.. |

Some of the similar rattles I've got rid of recently, each one was making its own annoying noise.
Tightening down the strut top nut. Tightening the gland nut that holds the shock into the strut tube. Tightening the wishbone rear nut 1/4 turn. Checking and refitting the spring clips that hold the brake hardlines into the strut. I still have one rattle left that only started after I fitted lowering springs. I'm pretty sure it's the top of the spring tail vibrating against its end stop. |

Thanks man, that gives me a few places to check.
I haven't touched any of the suspension on the car yet, so looking forward to having a poke around. I hope to fit a set of 60mm lowered springs this year, so that will also be a good opportunity to strip and check everything over. |
