Default Heated wing mirror not working

On my 2013 2.4 D5 AWD Lux XC60 the heated wing mirror on the drivers side has stopped working. The passenger side is still working ok. Is it separated fuses or both off the same one? Is it likely to be a connection fault or be needing new glass?

Had the same on my 2010 xc50 and dealer checked it out and found a break in the cable at the door -repaired for around £50. Well worth it as I investigated changing the glass and the cost plus potential breakage issues to then find it was a wiring fault wasn’t worth it. There is only one fuse and one relay for the two mirrors according to my investigation.

I had this on my 2010 XC, simplest way to check is remove mirror and see if there is power coming to the heated mirror connections when turned on with a multi meter. If there is power then you need the mirror element, if not then investigate for broken wires.

tilt it all the way in to the car and get your fingers behind it on the side away from the car and pull gently, it will pop off, if like me you have sausage fingers a wide trim tool can lift it out far enough to get a finger behind.

Do you mean 1.5 volts which sounds about right.

Volts should be 12 volts or perhaps a bit higher if car is running. 1.5 volts would indicate a problem!
Replacement of glass is easy and on eBay can buy for AUD$30-$100. I'm in Australia and mine came from a UK eBay seller.
That said, in the end I did not need a new glass as when I finally got around to testing I did not get any voltage when demist was across the mirror terminals. Further testing showed that the ground wire was in fact not grounded and I was in fact getting a 12V reading at the mirror if using the vehicle body as an earth for multimeter. My problem revealed itself when the ground wire just a few centimetres from the mirror just fell off....which I just soldered together and problem now solved!!!! I don't have a good reason for the failure as it seems like the wire was not flexible enough and could not tolerate a lot of flexing or movement BUT where it broke off it did not seem to be close enough to the folding section to be affected by the folding motion itself, but can't think of any other possible reason. Hope this helps others!!
