Grey one button Remote
My recently purchased 940S (1994) came with two remote fobs and they both actually work now that I have cleaned the contacts and put the new batteries in the correct way round!
However, I can only use one because the spare unit is missing the small black panel, which sits around the one button, keeps the batteries in place and retains the screw holding it all together. Does anyone have a black panel they don't want kicking around, in an otherwise defunct unit? |

You have done well to get two working fobs. The fobs are only available secondhand now and usually need component level repairs before they will work. There is one particular component on the PCB in the fob, a Murata ceramic resonator, that tends to break away. The best fix is to solder a new one in place if you can get one. They were available on eBay a few years ago.
If the distance the fob works from the car is not good there are (easy) fixes for that documented on here too. As for the plastic part, they break where the screw goes into them. If you've got a good one it might be worth trying to find someone who can 3D print some spares for you. I expect the metal contact could be fabricated fairly easily. Good luck. It can be quite a challenge tracking down some of the rarer parts. |

Thanks Forrest for that comprehensive reply. I have actually found some of those other posts that you mention, when educating myself about them, whilst thinking that I had 2 US fobs. It wasn't till I suddenly thought, am I putting in the batteries correctly, that I dug out the alarm handbook and lo and behold, I had them in wrong. Put them in correctly and bingo.
The second one breaking on the screw is exactly what has happened. I don't know anyone with a 3D printer, so I'll keep an eye out on ebay, or maybe someone will find a defunct one in a drawer. Cars coming up a treat with some tcut and polish.Ive also replaced wipers and light lenses, what a difference that make. Car was very grimy and mostly stored the last 5 years, doing less than 500 miles in that time. Mechanics being fettled at the end of the week. I'll post some pictures in a week ot two.
