Default Intercooler removal on the 440 td?

Has anyone every removed this? It looks straight forward but I was just checking to see if there is a specific way to it as obviously the haynes manual doesnt cover it!

Hello!
Maybe this will help.
You will also have to remove the wheel arch liner.

Hi many thanks for that! On this note has anyone ever experience any problems with bigger wheels rubbing against number 4 in the diagram above? That is on mine standard 15inch cetus alloys with 60 profile and above tyres.....

Had it off today..easy enough job however it did require the removal of my already shakey front bumper which i managed to square back up.

It also appears that these intercoolers are identical to the Renault 5 gt, so im looking at the double capacity upgrades on ebay...

Hello!
Something is not right there if the wheel is rubbing no.4... you should check the bushes or the positioning of the intercooler (previous accidents?).
If you find a bigger intercooler witch will fit, please let me know.

Also, you should be careful or to study more this upgrade. A bigger intercooler fitted on a engine with factory settings doesn't do much or will do worst. Bigger intercooler means lower air pressure for the turbo.

Good luck!

Thats a good point which i havent thought off. Its only when a full lock is put on does it rub slightly. The upgraded intercoolers are simply on ebay, I guess the main tuning thus far would be the screwing of the lucas pump and on boost along with shortning the waste gate on the turbo, but all that is only a thought. I'll look into it a bit more!!
