The Polestar Engineered Optimisation upgrade in effect gives you sport mode, with the benefit of a power boost and better gearbox changes. When in Polestar mode, it also seems to turn off stop-start for quicker getaways.

Dealers seem to have periodic offers for this upgrade.

Although Volvo are guilty of removing the drive modes, it seems it is Volvo UK that have even further reduced the options in the UK. The Polestar Engineered XC60 is still available in other markets, as are the V60/V90 (including a Polestar Engineered V60) and V60/V90 Cross Country versions. And the S90...

Well, bit the bullet and got the Polestar upgrade. I know have 3 modes, comfort, off road and now Polestar.
Polestar mode is great for the few seconds I used it. The standard drive gear changes seem to have sharpened up a bit, and there is no lag when moving away from a roundabout when you cruise up to it, which is a plus.

It's such a shame that the Individual drive mode has gone. I find it useful for having air suspension in firm mode and the gearbox in normal. Dynamic is great for overtaking, windy roads etc but uses too much fuel for permanent use whereas in Normal the air suspension is a tad soft for out of town use. I still don't get why Volvo is removing functionality on equipment which is fitted. Stops me buying another.
