Thanks! I'm sure you are right and that's what I thought too. My wife, whose not a Girly girl at all was not here and she would know what's she's doing. I got my daughter to help., next best thing and she has her engineering head screwed on too. She'd hurt her wrist in a Hockey match so couldn't counter the twist of the extensions to keep the Torx square on to the hole and hold the tension at the same time. I then called my mate who, although not at all the engineering type is a PTI in a gym. I thought that despite the lack of practical knowledge his overpowering strength in his upper body would be a walk in the park for him if I gave him precise instruction. "Stop the force when you hit the stop, only a few degrees movement, keep it square etc.etc." I asked him to lay on the carpet I had down so as to secure his body and give him control of the ratchet. After the first attempt he insisted on kneeling! I'm sure he didn't keep it square! I wasn't looking because I was trying to get the belt on from within the bonnet space

You've mentioned more than once in other threads that you have Vida which gives you all the part numbers you're ever likely to need and a detailed pictorial step by step replacement guide and a quick enter of your part number on eBay gives a Volvo main dealer selling a genuine tensioner and belt for £60 total. I'm stumped as to why you don't use Vida to research your problem and even more stumped as to why you still want to go non genuine.

Since 1976 when I was first on the road I've always used pattern parts where possible (that's good quality ones no crap) and had no problems whatsoever. On my XC90 I used pattern parts extensively with no problems as i did on my Golf GTI and Passat to name a few, my friend runs and Audi RS4 and uses pattern parts. I must stress here all of OEM quality. I'm curious that despite for example Gates being and large manufacturer of repute, why the opinion is that they would be inferior parts. After all, the bits I'm looking at from a Volvo box have, "Made in Italy" on them. I'm half Italian and I know what can happen over there! |

A Volvo kit uses parts from different manufacturers each with their own speciality so to truly replicate OE quality, you'd need to research who makes each OE part and that isn't Gates alone. As the link I provided shows, the genuine Volvo kit is priced as such that time spent researching really doesn't yield any monetary or quality benefits from going aftermarket for this job. Do Gates make a tensioner unit and belt for less than £60? If they do, is the kit truly OE equivalent by individual part numbers? If either answer is no, I don't personally see the point in shopping around to save next to nothing.

Would you have any info regarding Volvo Serpentine Belt Tensioner/Removal/De-tensioner Tool for a 2010 Volvo XC60 T6? or any suggestions/link if you know where can I find this special type? I need to replace the AC clutch coil. Also any Video or steps on this will be much appreciated
The pulley looks like as shown in the link but none of the place or eBay has a tool to de-tension the belt "https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Drive-Belt-Tensioner-Pulley-fits-Volvo-S80-S60-V70-XC60-XC90-30777695-LR004667/283391150880?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.S EED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Da1e9c 9c4b0ef4af8acf21476451b88c7%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D 1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D283391150880%26itm%3D283391150 880&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pagec i%3A1ffc8002-6b39-11e9-ad8e-74dbd1804a34%7Cparentrq%3A6df407d816a0ac88e34578e3 ffefe653%7Ciid%3A1 Thanks Blesson Last edited by BLXT; Apr 30th, 2019 at 12:17. If the later then the Aux. belt needs changing at 54000 , 108000, 162000 miles etc and the Tensioner every 108000 miles / 10 years together with the cambelt kit . If you have the hydraulic tensioner , it's been neglected , get it to the dealer immediately for the recall ...where they change it to the mechanical type ,

What you and anybody else with this later engine needs to know is that The change interval has recently been revised by volvo . It is now every 90000 miles or 5 years which ever comes first . so you will need the cambelt and tensioner and idle roller changing and also the Aux belt and the tensioner shown in your picture .
