Car has done just over 100k. Still waiting to hear back from the garage as to when they can have a look at the fuel filter.

Took a turn for the worse today when my wife was reverse parking, there was a bang from the back and the car felt like it was trying to drive over something, she got out and could not see anything on the ground. Drove forwards again and it gave another bang, than drove OK, still with the reduced power.

Would the rear brakes have been adjusted during the service, an earlier post suggested the brakes may be sticking which may explain the above?

Were the rear handbrake shoes replaced? They should have been by now as the glue can fail at that distance and the shoes drop off into the drum and bind up and seize the rear axel. I've just remembered that I'm talking about an XC60 and not a 90 so it may be that it does not have the internal drum handbrake.

Can anyone confirm what handbrake the 2009 XC60 has? Drum or disc?

Default XC60 handbrake

XC60 handbrake acts on the rear discs. (It's an electronic handbrake with motors to wind the pads in against the discs)

It's one of the things I like about my XC60 - except for the stupid position of the switch......

It's in the same position as the XC90 so no issue for me having been used to that position for many years.

Finally got the problem corrected, the car never felt quiet right and started to have an occasional small power loss still with no error codes. Following another full service the air sensor error appeared, turns out the connection into the loom from the maf wire was not seated correctly and had corroded, after the connection was cleaned up and reconnected the car is back to full performance.
