I found the limiter a great feature, set to the speed limit, then you dont have to constantly keep your eye on the speedo, just concentrate on the road around you. Easily adjusted for changing limits.

You would have thought so wouldn't you but not all do. In the XC60 and V40 I have neither the speed limiter or cruise control will brake the car, it will only use engine braking.
XC60 Owners Manual - is primarily intended for use when driving on level road surfaces. It may have difficulty in keeping the correct distance from the vehicle ahead when driving on steep downhill slopes
V40 Owners Manual - On steep roads the speed limiter's engine braking effect may be inadequate and the selected maximum speed is exceeded
I have really noticed a difference when swapping from the D5 to the T5, there is far more engine breaking from the diesel. There is a long hill in a 30 zone in Northampton and the T5 with the limiter set to 30 will get to 35 by the end of it, and that is where the police camera van often sits. There is a speed limiter alarm but that goes off at just under 33 but by then once you have reacted the car is at 34 and a speeding fine would be beckoning.

I used to hate cruise control but now having tried adaptive cruise control I have changed my mind. I spend most of my driving now changing between adaptive in traffic and using the limiter everywhere else.

I got this feature on my new car and been using it for the last coupe of weeks. I'm finding it really useful for average speed check zones. And there are a lot of those on the M1!
