Default Opening a V50 key

Hi folks,

I'm having problems with they keys for my car.

The key that I used as my main key for a number of years all of a sudden stopped working. I'm suspecting that the key is no longer sending out a signal and may need a new PCB which an independent volvo specialist have told me they can go for not too much cash.

The second key that I have been using more recently has stopped locking the car. I am getting by with locking/unlocking the drivers door with the key blade but it is beginning to annoy me! I have seen a guide on the forum to replacing microswitches on the key which looks easy enough. My question is how do I get the damned key apart? The guide showed a key with a screw holding it together but my key has no visible screws. I'm assuming that both halves my be glued together.

The key looks like the one in the attached image. I'm wanting to try open my dead key first to save me ruining the one that is still in use but any info on this would be great!

Cheers

FL keys might be a bit different to pre-FL keys (I do have a screw) so maybe just follow this video, looks like you only pry it apart.

I can get the key apart as far as to replace the battery as shown in the video but need to separate both halves of the key once the cover is off. This would give me access to the microswitches and pcb.

Oh ok, see what you mean. That key design is totally different from mine, my PCB just sits there under small rubber seal and easily accessible.
on the video it looks like there is a small hole beside battery that might have screw in it, maybe there is some blanking rubber part there? did you try to take metal blade out when key is split? no screws there?

Default Can be done

Did this a few years ago.
Bought new key off Ebay.
Used Stanley knife blade to pry fob apart, go steady and try not to deform insert part of key, slow and steady dont force.
Once fob starts to part be careful not to lose electronics from innards.
Before reassemble clear and scrape old bonding else key will be too wide.
I reassembled using super glue, if I were to do it again I would use a more forgiving glue.
