Default Paint Code?

Ok, in light of tidying up my poor old 740 (before I bin the 940 that was going to replace it) I need to spray my replacement front wing - at the moment it is dark blue on a silver car!!

How do I find out what the paint code is - and where is the best place to get some rattle cans that will match?

Halford's say if I get the paint code they can make some cans up - can I trust Halfords though??

On my vin plate the paint code is on the right hand side, third line down.
It should be a 5 digit number written as xxx-xx. The first three digits describe the colour and the last two decribe the paint type. More info here.
The Halfords paint matching is pretty good, they use the Holts system. I used a can to paint my grille. It could take a few cans to spray the wing though, plus the clear laquer on top.
You might find it's not much more expensive to have a local paint shop spray the wing if you take it off the car and do the preparation/priming yourself..
