Outside Temp sensor
My outside sensor has begun to have a mind of its own.
This morning it was -6 at 0600, was actually about 7c. coming home when it was about 17c it was showing -1c. Not that concerned, but does it affect the aircon, heating and demisting of the car if its showing a wrong outside temp? I have seen a way to fix it, but in the meantime is it affecting my fuel economy? |

This has been mentioned before, myself included. Its either one of two things, ingress of moisture in to your passenger side door electric connection plug (theres a fix involving a good clean and silicone spray, but dont hold me to that) my one was actually a goosed temp sensor £136 under warranty later and now works fine. "Clan" is usually the font of all knowledge on this.

I also had the same issue. My V50 (2006) went back to the dealer to sort it. I had a look at what had been done when I got it back and it appears the pins in the door loom connector were cleaned and they packed it with "special" grease to stop the moister getting back in. Been fine ever since.
I also found the when I had the issue the air con didn't seem to regulate properly... Dealer said the outside air temp is used by the air con when in auto mode to set the fan and temp difference. As air con can affect MPG this may be related. Previous thread:- http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=98528 Checkout post #8 in the thread above for a great document on how to clean the connector.
