Prior to purchasing my 2020 S60, I change my phone to a Google Pixel 7 Pro.
I bitterly regret that decision, but that has nothing to do with this post. However, I am wondering if I'm hitting a problem with this specific phone and the Volvo Sensus voice control. As I understand it, it is possible to reply to text messages using voice commands to dictate the content. By extension of this, I believe it is also possible to send texts in the same way rather than just having the option to reply to an incoming text. However, every time I try to select a text command using the voice control, the system tells me that's the phone is not connected for that- even though it clearly is because I can access all of the other phone functions, and I receive texts through the Sensus system on a frequent basis. Has anybody else had the same problem and managed to find a fix? I have checked all of the settings in my phone and it says it is connected for text messages which will explain why the car can at least receive them... It's not possible to send a text message in any other way.

Hmmmm... I wonder if I have assumed that my model year has this feature, as I found this on the Volvo website for the 2024 model and assumed that recent vehicles would have been capable of the same thing with a possible upgrade:
"You can dictate a new message by asking the voice control system to send a message to a named contact or a phone number" https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...a801515f80a8f7 |

I'm fairly sure your car has the previous Sensus sytem which therefore doesn't support it.

You can send text messages on Sensus cars, by pressing voice control button and say "message joe" or anyone in your contacts, as long as your phone is connected and there is a data connection. You need a data sim in modem. Dictate message and when prompted say send.

, I don’t see why an Android Phone would be any different? Just say “message” then it asks who to send to.
