Default poor mpg

Just done a long trip to Holland over the weekend with 4 people and a bit of luggage.
90% of the journey was on UK motorways and the motorways in Holland at 65-70 using the cruise control.
I filled up before I went and then just before leaving Holland the mpg returned was 38.5 mpg.
I had a Rica remapped S50 before and this on a long run always got 55 ish mpg.

My V50 has only done 26k but I would have hoped that it was going to be a bit better than what I am getting,

perhaps I need to get this one remapped ?

thanks

Bob

That doesn't sound right. I get at worst 42 and at best 48 out of my V50 D5. Thats a combination of motorway / london traffic / countryside driving with one / two people and luggage.

I did a camping trip to Cornwall last summer with four lads and the boot full of luggage / fishing gear and I'm sure I managed early 40's then.

The car isn't remapped but have been considering getting it done.

Is the car manual or auto? I'm curious as I'm due to pick up a D5 auto latter this week

Cheers

hello

its a auto BUT I have purchased a dtuk tuning box last week and I have now seen the mpg go from 33 to 39 round town and local driving and did a run of 300 miles over the weekend and showing 50 mpg for the trip.
so pleased so far and the fuel gauge is not moving down so much LOL

Bob,
pleased you seem to have got your mpg sorted, will have to see how mine pans out before I decide what to do. Most of my mileage will be motorway - 80 mile round trip to work so hopeful of a reasonable figure from the start...

Cheers

First tankful on the V50 D5 worked out about 35mpg which is from cruising at between 75 - 80 on the Motorway, a little disappointing really. As soon as the car is out of warranty (12 months) I'll get it remapped - RICA looks likley to be the best option.

I think the killer is the geartronic auto box - up until a month or so ago I had a V70 D5 (185) manual and with the same sort of running was retruning low 40's, even when pushed hard on a motorway it returned 38 - 39mpg.
