I need to order the mounts. Take about a week or so to get there. Anyone have thoughts on a decent one off ebay or just deal direct with a Volvo dealer (in the UK for me as Volvo here adds 500% to the UK price!).

If you take it off you will almost certainly find that the smaller rubber bush is totally shot.

Not better but some are identical to genuine Volvo but for much less money.
Explained in my video here.

From my experience you will probably find its the rear engine mount as it does most of the torque reaction work. Re the lower gearbox anti-torque mount, please realise that the rubber at each end of the unit is different. One end is softer than the other!! This may not be the case with the ebay items. There are plenty of tales of woe on this forum when non-oem parts especially engine mounts/suspension parts etc have been fitted. Your call!

Just to close the loop on this one, replaced the lower torque mount today - yes it really is an easy job.
Took the car up and down a couple of hills and so far no clunking from the engine bay! Thanks everyone for all the advice. It really helps to give confidence to try these jobs for newcomers like myself. |
