Default Help with 240 turbo... Experience needed!

Hi all,

240 fully converted to turbo swapping in a b230ft from a 940.

Starts and drives, but once warm produces smoke from exhaust. Oily smoke.

The engine was rebuilt with skimmed head, gaskets, etc. The only thing not rebuilt was the turbo but there was no smoke from donor car.

Likelyhood or cause being oil leak in turbo vs head? But only when up to temp. Could something seal/Gasket wise have perished during the 6 months if was out of duty?

Thanks.

OK so list of potential causes:

1) valve stem seals
But this would produce smoke at all times?

2) piston rings
But would produce smoke at all times?

3) headgasket
New one fitted after head skim

4) turbo cartridge
Bearings inside failing?

5) crankcase ventilation
This seams to work fine. No pipe link to intake manifold fitted. Goes from flame trap to catch can.

Help?

I've not ran it long enough to tell if it's using oil. It's still in my workshop I'm ashamed to say. Fell out of love for a while! Hard to tell if smelling rich.
