The only thing I can think of is the fact it was a main dealer and was able to offer a finance package with a poss PX.

That is strong money, you may be right about finance or p/x. There are a number of examples similar to this on the market for quite some time, most seem to be JDM cars. The fact that many dont sell does make it more difficult to understand values. As ever, only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Then of course is the Gul saloon in Ireland for £15995 with 162k on the clock.
This one though still has not sold.

The yellow auto in this thread actually seems well priced in comparison and probably closer to true value. Plus it actually exists, and actually sold. There's a lot of "fly paper" being advertised at the moment...
It's a difficult time to gauge prices of anything at the moment with everything else going on. It seems like a lot of traders are moving the T5-R into the "classic car" bracket. Especially manual estate cars. Especially yellow ones. That's a different kind of buyer, and priced accordingly. The 850R appears to be just behind that. There are a couple of yellow manual estates in Europe with 140-200k miles and asking prices around Eur 20-25k. There's a one-owner manual low-miles 850R in Italy with an asking price knocking on Eur 30k. They're all still there. There have been a couple of import auto yellow T5-R advertised around £16k. There was a manual green 850R manual import around 14k. I'm not sure if those cars actually existed, lol, but they have allegedly "sold". At least one of them is being advertised again by the same dealer... In Japan prices have picked up too accordingly. Muddying the waters further, there are some suspiciously "cheap" 850R auto imports knocking about in ads around £8-10k. Some of those were actually imported a year or two ago with no history since, literally sold out of parking lots. Some of them may be genuine cars. Either way, interesting times... |
