Default Frozen windscreen in and out!

Pulled the drivers door handle this morning and the door mirrors extended, but
I was unable to open the drivers door this morning. Strongly suspect the rubber door seals had frozen to the frame.

So I went round to the passenger door and this opened without problems. Reached over and shoved the drivers door - which then opened.

My real problem this morning as I can deal with the door not opening everytime it is -8 degrees. Is the fact the ice had frozen on both the inside and outside of the front windscreen and door windows.

Does this mean i have a bad seal somewhere?
The only car I ever remember having to scrape both the interior and exterior was my parents MGTF (with a canvas roof was expected)

The iPod (perminatly connected) also refused to work
And i could see a build up of ice on the lip of the CD slot

Not good ?

not good indeed
it might just be the moisture inside the car from when it was last warm freezing on things, or the damp brought in to the carpets off wet/snow coverd boots.

Deffinatly worth checking the usual suspects first for leaks.

Hi Ray.
Have you got a driveway, or somewhere you can Nose your car up tight(As you can get) against your house/building?
I/my dad does it when it's forecast to be cold, and even though its only the garage, with no heating, it makes a big difference.
The other week, I left my house at just before 5 in the morning, all cars were frosted over, front, top and back, mine was only frosted over back and half the top, car started alright.
I hope this could help,
Tom.

Believe it or not - I do have a garage, but the car is too big !!!

The drivers door that was frozen closed is next to my wifes car and the drivers side is more sheltered then the passenger due to this fact.
However all 3 of the other doors opened as expected?

sorry
usual suspects would be

Door seals for rips/tears / water retention inside - Door drain holes (bottom edge)
Windscreen seals + drain holes
Carpets + mats for damp ,, and underneath of for leaks from heater matrix
heater matrix , behind the dash (or burried in the dash Just out of reach/sight)
Sunroof , if fitted, seals, leaks from , drain holes =clear and free + clean

Damp carpets (front/rear) from footware/liquid spills, window left cracked open etc.

Had a similar problem with the XC90 this morning, but it was minus 10 last night and the car hasn't moved since New Year's Eve. Luckily our drive is well away from the road, so I left it running for about 15 minutes with everything going full blast, and it cleared in time to ferry the ankle biters 5 miles to school. The sun is on them both now so they're both defrosted well.

I am wondering if the weather was indeed extreme or if I have a genuine fault.

Given the fact that the drivers door was probably the last to open and close when you parked the car it has had more chance to develop moisture on the seals, treat with a little wd40 on a soft cloth or dust with talc. In extreme cold conditions like we are experiencing at the moment any heat inside the car will condense against the inside of your windows when you park the car for the night and if cold enough it will freeze on the inside, my son in law had a bottle of water inside his car freeze up overnight due to extreme overnight temperatures -8 degrees.
