Question Electrical fault driving me nuts!! HELP?? 89 740 GLE estate

I have problems with my FAN, electric mirrors, cigarette lighter, Wipers(not good!!), horn and finally dashboard instrumentation (fuel, speedo, poss temp gauge). I have found a way to fix instantly when on the road but no long term solutions. My solution has been remove the fuse and replace with the same one, I have checked all 20+fuses and non are broken. I think that; wipers, horn, heater fan, ciggie lighter, mirrors are all linked and dashboard is its own affair.

Losing wipers/fan/horn/lighter/mirrors is a pain that I must rectify as soon as possible.

It's becoming apparent that Volvo can make solid and reliable cars with good engines but, their electrics leave a lot to be desired, in all the cars I've owned only the Italian/French electrics are worse.

Can anyone out there give me any advice?

Cheers folks

Alistair

E-mail me privately and I will try to supply the answers to your problems. The model year of your vehicle would be useful as would the VIN (all 17 digits).

All the best, Peter.
