What are we calling low miles? I have one from a '97 car with (apparently) 145k miles.

Has yours failed or is it for a manual conversion?

The M90 is in my 240. Looking to use the dual mass to keep things smooth.

Oh I see, can't say I've ever heard of one failing on a 940 so as long as it's in good condition I'm sure it will be fine. The one out of my breaker is on 204k miles and is fine.

Thanks, reassuring to hear they are robust. The car has been restored and most of the components new so would like a decent one to match, that and it would be nice if this was the last time I had to take the box off

I always suggest binning the DMF as it is super heavy and slows engine response plus its another thing to go wrong.

There is a down side to doing a SMF conversion and that is if you spend lots of time sat it traffic you can start to hear a litlle rattling noise from the gearbox when out of gear. The rattle is caused by the shaft layout. Bear in mind the diesel with the same gearbox only came with a SMF flywheel. The slight noise was drowned out bu the engine.

I would consider anything below 160,000 miles low and below 100,000 miles a miracle.

I used to just bin all of mine but now send them abroad where there is demand for them.

They start to fail by rattling and can eventually fall apart. Increaseing the boost is often a quick way to failure with them

Aren’t there support bearings for the flywheel when connected to M90?

Where is this demand abroad for the DMF’s? Have a couple laying around from running cars.

Cheers, Joseph
