Default Buying Advice V70 T5 2001 Geartronic

Hi folk.
I have been offered a V70 T5 2001 with 130k.
It has a delay when changing gear sometimes - I think the delay is in manual mode not auto?
The car itself is free but it needs full brakes, tyres and few other bits.
Thanks Mike.

Hi Mike, could be multiple things however a good start is a transmission fluid flush. If that doesn’t work solenoids, however depends how much you want to spend on the car itself. Any other transmission issues? Lumpy shifting etc? What gear I it delayed? There is a pretty good write up by Sonnax I think which describes the issues caused by certain faulty solenoids however I can’t find it which isn’t very useful. One of those things I found while stumbling around google.

Also check the PCV system by doing the glove test on the oil fill cap with a rubber glove. Should draw vacuum. If I he glove inflated you need to refurb the PCV system. I learned the hard way

Unfortunately not. I did not check this soon enough and it blew the crankshaft seal one day, then i scrapped the car as there was too much to sort out and potentially a bottomless pit (Geartronic was one of them)

There are plenty of threads on here regarding the gearbox, and also the PCV system. Dont use the search function within the forum, search through google and state something like "Volvo V70 PCV system Forum UK" and at the bottom of a list of results from volvo forum UK, there shoudl be a "More results from www.volvoforums.org.uk" click that and it will come up with all results from the forum.

Good luck. If you are getting it FOC, then check things like exhaust and syspension condition (expensve to replace) bushings in control arms and general bodywork condition underneath. loads of posts relating to what to look for, or also search youtube.
