Hi all

First post on what looks like a very informative site.

I'm currently psycing myself up for a car purchase - I'm a massive car buff/geek but really hate the buying/selling process - unless its one of my retro projects!

Looking to replace the wife's tired Audi Allroad with either an XC70 or V70. I've spent lots of time researching and for me it all comes down to the Spec. I only drive it on the weekend, but obvioulsy want to ensure I'm happy with it. I'll have a few questions as I go further down the process.

At the moment, I'm looking up to 4 yrs old, up to 30k miles D5 and either SE Lux or R Design. SE Lux probably slightly ahead because of the better quality leather and standard toys - although I prefer the exterior of the R-Design.

Quick question - I have seen R-Design with either twin or single exhausts - is there any difference or is it just some added bling? Also, on some adverts it states "Premium". Was this an additional trim level?

Cheers
Matt

The Twin Aluminium Exhaust End Pipes are for the T6 AWD and (depending on model year) D5 models only. (As far as I can tell but happy to be corrected).

From MY09 Volvo sales info:

premium
The Premium model is the ultimate upgrade, available on all specification levels. The combination of Leather-faced Upholstery and Satellite Navigation System (RTI) is designed to complement the existing high level of specification whichever model you choose.

Old link but still has the file there

Thinking about it this 'Premium' was a package I included on the spec of my car when new.

Hi. I'm pretty sure that On the D5 engines - single exhaust is single turbo 185bhp model and twin exhausts are the newer twin turbo 205bhp models.

I could be wrong right enough!

I would echo the sentiments of the above, in that the twin exhaust only appeared on later D5's, persumably coinciding with the new twin turbo 205hp D5.

Ps, Car adverts can be notoriously bad. With wrong equpiment, specifications and engine sizes, fuel or gearbox types being wrong. Some adverts with Premium in may only be the sellers view that the car is a Premuium car and not relate to the spec.

Feel free to post up any adverts of cars your interested in and I'm sure people will give comments on it.

Mine 2009 XC70 is a 185, and has a single pipe. Later models did go to 205hp, and have a 2nd pipe (but I thought it was a software tune rather than 2nd turbo).

I thought it was a sequential twin turbo ? My 215bhp D5 has the twin pipes and that's what I was told in the blurb.
