Default 940 1994 Yazaki Odometer stopped working

Hi all, I have a Yazaki Speedo/Odo in my 1994 940.
The odometer stopped working, I removed it and stripped it down expecting to find corrosion and bad capacitors, but everything looked fine.
The only thing I could see is some discolouration on the Step Motor which spins the odometer. The gearing seems to be fine and is unlike the VDO types which break.
I just wondered if anyone has successfully replaced one of these motors? And where I would source one?

Alternatively would anyone have a replacement cluster that would fit?

Thanks in advance

Default yazaki odometer

Lakes in Wyboston usually have a few lying around, you might try Barry or bernard on 07958 750406 / 07957881496. Although there is a website you might be waiting awhile for an email reply.

I can't recall seeing posts about the odometer itself, although if you use 'search' using 'yazaki' there will be a lot of posts, most are to do with the temp guage.
Here's a link to someone who has reassembled an odometer

Hi sorry I should of explained better, no the trip meter doesn't work, looking at it, it looks like the step motor drives one cog - this cog then drives both odometer and trip meter.
The speedo still works fine.

That's exactly the point i was looking at and why i asked.

In your pic, if you expand it and zoom in, there are a couple of dodgy looking solder joints on the stepper-motor solder pads. Also if you look further up the pic, top left of the PCB as viewed, there are at least two solder pads with dodgy looking joints on the track that runs down to the stepper-motor. I can't do the "draw little circles and arrows" thing on pictures but i think my description should work - perhaps you could draw another circle on the pads you think i'm describing and i can confirm them?

Anyway, it might be worth servicing those joints first - heat them up with a soldering iron, add a little flux or fresh solder until the joint flows, remove all the solder with a solder-sucker and then apply fresh solder to create a good joint.
You may find this cures it with no further intervention.

If the speedo wasn't working i'd agree Bob.

Seems it is though so the signal is getting lost and from what i can see on the pic, there are a few dry joints so would be a good place to start.
Might not be the problem but worth checking before shelling out on another instrument cluster or stepper motor.

Hi i'm 99% certain its the stepper motor, i've rechecked and soldered any dodgey connections, but to no avail.
I have noticed there is a turbo version for a Yazaki 1993 on ebay, this would do the job wouldn't it?

Does anyone know what the extra white plug that is masking taped to the instrument look is for?

Thanks
