Sorry if you've found it already, but I believe this is the EGR valve

But I stand to be corrected if I am wrong!

Hi. That picture with the arrow, that's not the egr valve. That is merely where the egr pipe from the valve joins the intake system. I believe the valve itself is at the back of the engine. It's worth while taking that aluminium piece off and the pipe work from it to the engine. Took mine off to fit a starter motor, made better access and I was shocked at the build up of grime in there. Lots of petrol or something like that needed to clean all of it out. Going to be doing the intake cover soon but it involves removing the injector pipes and wiring so am a bit nervous in doing it but judging by wot I found in the pipework I'm guessing it's got to be done. There is a way of slowing this build up from occurring by blanking the egr valve off, done some research on this and a guy on ebay sells a plate to do this. It has a small hole to allow minimal exhaust gas to pass so not to generate a fault code but is a lot smaller than the original hole. Worth while mod, done it to my monde and the build up was hugely reduce. Hope this helps u. Chris.

The arrow in TheScrew1972's pic is pointing to the mixing chamber, not the EGR ...
