Default D5 Belts

Hi all, my P3 V70 D5 had all the belts tensioners etc done 5 years ago at 79k, now well into the 130 range the non timing one is due soon??? Is this correct?

Are the just two belts, the timing and the aux?

Main aux belt is every 54,000. I prefer to do it sooner. Tensioner should have been done when the timing belt was done. Then there is the smaller AC stretch belt which is said to last until the next timing belt replacement.

You just need to replace the aux belt - the interval is 54k - you've done 51k.

If you are 100% certain the aux belt tensioner was replaced last time, you can leave it for now.

Timing belt is 108k/10 years.

Not sure on A/c belt but if it's not slipping or shrieking I'd be inclined to leave it.

3 belts. Timing, main auxiliary and air conditioning.

If the timing belt was replaced 5 years ago, then the timing one isn't due for another 5 years.

I'd replace the main auxiliary belt. A Volvo Specialist told me 54,000 miles or 5 years (whichever comes sooner). As its 5 years old and you've nearly hit the mileage limit, I'd be inclined to replace the aux belt. The aux belt tensioner should be okay until the next timing belt (aux tensioner should be replaced every 10 years), but double check your paperwork to see if it was done. If you're unsure, just get it changed. Its not an expensive part, maybe £60-£70... extra piece of mind.

I don't think the a/c belt matters as much, as it only moves when the a/c is on (it should be fine until your next timing belt). The main aux belt is running all the time whilst the engine is running/moving... the main one gets worn more, hence earlier replacement.

Correct aux belts consist of 2 belts approx £36 each. Had mine done last year. 2 belts plus £70 labour. Done at Esplanade Volvo Isle Of Wight.

Is it also known as the Serpentine belt?

Is it the same time periods on the xc70 D5?

Easy job to do DIY?
