Default Grinding noise on gear change and cornering

So I've had a slight issue for a while, whereby my car pulls to the left (tracking is spot on front wheels) and there's generally some wandering on the front end when driving (especially on motorway and uneven roads).

I also get a bit of clunking from the front end/wheels when pulling slowly onto the drive, and also full lock turning slowly results in a clunk and a feeling the car has shifted, almost like the wheel went over a stone and slipped, this is felt when say doing a full turn in a road with full lock on. It's not been a major issue but now I seem to be getting a grinding noise when turning slowly round corners, say at a T junction. And I can feel this through the gear stick when changing into 2nd as part of the slow pulling out whilst turning... If you follow.

Any ideas on what these could be, does it sound like they're related... Ie bushes, track rod ends etc?!

It's getting booked in the garage as soon as I'm paid but always like to be a bit armed with some knowledge

Cheers

Grinding noise from the front would suggest wheel bearing, soft feel when driving could be control arms (which use hydro-bushes, when fluid leaks theres more movement hence more "loose" control on the front).
Whats the model and age of you car?

That does tie in to what I'm feeling, to be honest.

It's a 2006 2.0D S40 (can't believe I left that out from my original post! :S ) it's done about 95k

So now the grinding noise from the gearbox is getting worse, when crawling along in first you can hear it... And feel the grinding vibration through the gear stick. Also when pressing in the clutch at a certain point you can feel a vibration through the pedal that wasn't there before.

Something tells me I'm looking at a big repair bill here

*edit update*

After now actually driving it (above info was from the missus driving it home!) the noise is actually like a scraping noise when the clutch is pressed in and also when de-pressed.

This is at idle in neutral as well as when changing gears. It's only audible with the windows down and radio off.

So looking like clutch, maybe thrust bearing?!

Well if it is clutch might as well do the DMF while they're at it... it's only money

So anyone got a rough idea of how much a new clutch will be to supply and fit? I'm taking it to the independent volvo specialist near me, so won't be dealer prices.

So want to a rough idea before I pass out when the garage tell me the bad news :S
