Hi Tony,

I don't think you will get off the shelf springs so you'll be probably be best off getting bespoke springs. Give these guys a call: http://www.coilsprings.co.uk/lowering.htm. It's not normally expensive to get a set made and they'll be able to make you what you want and also advise you what to do so a win win.

Cheers,

Mitch

You could always cut down your original springs. It's simple enough to calculate how much to remove to get the drop you want. You will also up the spring rate slightly at the same time.

You will need to reset the last coil though, so you need to find somebody with an oxy-acetylene set.

Three inches might be a bit much though. Make sure you keep the car some way from the bump stops, otherwise the handling will become a bit lively.

I dropped Amazon does look cool though.

Heating it to cherry red at half a coil distance from the cut end, turn the coil upside down and press down so the top coil bends down. Do not quench just let it air cool.

I would only cut half a coil out of the original length so you won't get your 3 inch drop. But maybe try half a coil and if okay then try another half to see how things go but normally half is about all you would go on standard coils as far as I know.

Resetting the last coil can be a pain getting the hardness/tensile strength right. Plus cutting springs upsets their spring rate actually increasing hardness
I know you recommended this as a low cost alternative but coil springs.co.uk are good value when you consider you get the actually spring you need and can sell/keep the originals for replace/resell later

I seem to remember reading that they charge £180 - £200 for a set, front and back. Please correct me if I'm wrong as my memory isn't what it use to be.
