I wish that these cars were actuall worth 'propper' money, it would mean that i dont have to go trawling around the country finding nice cars that are being ruined because "i havent had it long, timing belt snapped on me and the interior isnt much good anymore since i have used it as a van" if the worst 940s were worth 800 quid or so, it would mean that all of us who care about the cars and are willing to look after them, could actually do so! So i really really hope that your 760 is worth 4.5k , and i really hope that this 940 diesel we are moaning about is worth 3.5k, they really do deserve it. You simply will not get a better car for the money. They dont rust. They are easy to work on Almost every model made features at least 'adaquete' performance Most are available on classic car insurance They are soo comfortable They are refined ( yes i mean diesels too, anti vw folk...) Service bits are cheap enough They are absolutely brilliantly designed They look cool They are swedish They are rear wheel drive They are quirky They are safe The only bad bits are that they drink a lot And if you treat them as if they are a mordern car, bits are hard to find. Thats gotta be a 10 grand formula. It just must be. |

Ooh look. A blue auto 940 td with 150 ish thousand miles, a few optional extras...
Only this has had less owners and a full service history. Lets see what happens with it. My 2p says it will make around a grand, owing to its service history, what do we reckon ? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...733423&alt=web |

Your comments are valid and the consensus here so don't worry about offending. It's the price and the patronising listing is what's offensive here. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, this car was on for weeks at £1500. How anybody thinks adding £2k to that is going to make it move quicker this time is quite beyond me!! |

As I've said before . Why are Mercedes E300 multivalve estates worth so much , £3500 to £10k . Yes the OM606 is a lovely engine and miles more refined than the D24.
A 740, 940 , 960 or any rwd volvo with an blown Om606 would be ideal in my view, so perhaps its a perceived reliability issue that keeps the price down? which is good for Volvo nutters , or haters in the case of the D24. My car has saved me £3500 this year so in effect it owes me nothing and it will keep returning that figure as long as it keeps going. So for me it possibly is worth £2500 or there about's. A friend of mine deals in vintage Hi-Fi and punts equipment at prices I wouldn't ever dream of doing but he sells it. 1970's Pioneer CS-903 speakers for £850 ! They were never worth THAT much and sound rubbish. but good luck to him |
