I agree with Andy's comments. Don't put kids in the front with a passenfer airbag. Even without a child seat! That's what I was trying to say but got lost the thread (as usual)

Another thing about Drivers airbags don't sit to close. I've seen lots of people (particularly small ladies) who like to sit very close to the wheel and steer with bent arms. If you have to sit close to reach the pedals recline the backrest to take you away from the airbag.

Mothercare wouldn't listen when I said Volvo have OKayed side air bags with baby seats in the front. Even when I printed off the Volvo baby seat research, they still refused point blank to try fitting a baby seat in the front (no frontal air bag on that side).
Not that the seat would be put in the front, just that we wanted to see if it fitted all seats.

Mothercare have Saturday girls in every day of the week. More unseful information came from other customers in the shop. They should give customers discounts for generating sales, since the in house staff do nothing to help a customer.

Only one choice go to a specialist they will fit the seats into the car making sure they are suitable. The one local to me is superb - The In car safety centre in Milton Keynes. You should be able to find a similar specialist company in the Yellow pages etc. Its worth it!

I have a V70. It has the Volvo fitted 'armrest' child seat which my 5yr old sits in. She uses the standard lap and chest belt.

The 3yr old sits in a Britax Voyager (I think thats its name, an all in one foam booster seat with a back and headrest), using the rear seat belt.

The 6m old uses a Britax rock-a-tot on the other side, rear facing, using the belt loops on the seat for 'shorter belts', i.e. under the foot of the seat instead of over the top. It just fits. No chance of using the 'over the top' belt arrangement but with the underneath one, I find it more convenient as we can leave the car seat in the car and lift my daughter our to put her in the pram.

I have a spare rock-a-tot for sale for £10 if you live in the Wokingham area. I have used these for all my children and recommend them.

I've been doing a bit of looking into the Volvo isofix seats, as I am soon to be in need of a suitable child seat for my V70. The cost of all the brackets and frames as well as the seats, was a bit of a shock. At £250 +VAT for the setup and infant child seat for parts alone it is certainly more than a high street infant carrier. But the isofix set-up can take the other Volvo child seat for older babies, so should give long useage. The fixing method is supposed to be far more secure than seat belt held rear-facing seats and with the short belt size proper fitting is important. I'm sold on the idea!

The isofix brackets and frame fixing would cost me about £85 +VAT (1 hours labour)! This seems quite steep for what seems to be a relatively easy fixing. Does anyone have any experience of fixing the isofix mounting bracket behind the rear seats? I'm quite handy with the spanners and would like to do this bit myself, so advice please..anyone?
