cam belt gone - sequel
Hello and thanks for help so far. It turned out that the water pump was the problem - that caused the cam belt to go lots of damage to engine 800.00 pounds worth. The garage where I bought it are not co-operating even though it was under warranty when it happened. I'm nervous of taking them to court - can anyone offer any advice?
thanks again Cathy |

What does the warranty say?
Is it the garages own warranty or a third party? For £880 then small claims court is fairly easy and not too stressful. AFAIK the water pump is an item that doesn't even feature on the service schedule. |

It's the garage's own warranty - small print doesn't say water pump not covered. It lists thing s that aren't covered, but nothing that I've had to have repaired except for the cam belt.

RE: cam belt gone - sequel
I've just ordered a new water pump for my car. Its done over 120k on the original pump and I've heard too many times that when they fail thay snap the cambelt. It was £46 +vat+postage from Nordic.

When I had my rear crank shaft oil seal done, I changed the water pump, timing belt, tensioner pulleys and clutch to save any large future expense.
