EGR - How to Test and Wiring Diagram - V70 2006 2.4 D5
Hi, can anyone help ....
I have taken off the EGR assembly from my 2006 V70 2.4 D5. Spent sometime de-greasing/carboning. And is now fairly clean. How can I test the main plunger actuator? I can see four inputs on the socket but have no idea which pins do what. Also took the top off it and it looks simple just two connections a motor and the plunger/valve. So I assume the must be a 12v live and return? But what would the two other pins on the socket be for? Or is there a set of electronics on the black plastic top part that has four screws and the connector socket? Can I test it by connecting 12v to the two inner terminals? Is there a wiring diagram for ? Many thanks, Rich |

It's PWM signal for variable position so you either need a PWM generator or it's best tested in situ with VIDA

I presume when its out of the car the default postion is to block EGR flow yea?
If so dont worry about it being dead as this would be the same as an EGR delete. I would only be worried about fixing it if its default position is open.

If the EGR valve is stuck in any position then the real air mass vs what the ECM counts will be different except only when the valve is in the position needed.
EGR delete needs a remap.

What is an 'EGR delete'? What does remap really mean?
The plunger is closed, I can just about push it open with my thumb. Have cleaned it's almost good as new. But I have no idea on whether the motor/servo on the EGR body and circuit board are in good working order?? Am currently looking at a BlueDriver diagnostic tool or Jdiag JD906 as I really need a code reader / reset tool to get an insight into whats going on. I have put a new DPF on the car and that helped get it back to about 80%, the local garage said there are EGR faults and also to check the glow plugs. Thank you for the help so far, much appreciated. If you need a diagnostic only for your Volvo then get Volvo DICE (device) and VIDA (software).
VIDA answers all the technical questions and with DICE connection you can test all the electric stuff (modules, servos, sensors etc).

sorry for hijacking this thread but can't start a thread???
hi guys, really need help with my DiCE and 2014D vida,
2015 V60 vida running fine correct driver for vm when vida connects, all lights on DiCE flash in sequence (very close together sequence) without usb in or vida up. firmware flash green = good, usb steady = good, BT off = good, vehicle interface status flashes orange = communicating with system, although I think it's supposed to go steady. when I run the 'Read vehicle' I get: - Not possible to read out information from the vehicle No response from the vehicle. Possible causes are; Ignition is not on, the vehicle is older than model year 1999, defective CEM/CDM. Please could someone help, pulling my hair out. tomorrow will cost me a fortune at volvo if I can't sort out. If anyone lives near Mytchett that has a Vida/DiCE set up I would appreciate any time you have today so I can eliminate known good parts of this puzzle Thanks in advance, Shaun NB, as I was packing up to go back in the house a XC60/90 (one of those) pulled up across my drive, a bit rude but I saw an opportunity and asked if I could plug in my set up. The result was exactly the same as my car so I can pretty much put the issue as the Vida or DiCE I think Last edited by ShaunC; Oct 27th, 2019 at 15:36. Reason: more info aquired |

I did help some one that had a dice that would not work correctly, in the end it was a fuse holder that powered the obd 2 port needed cleaning, I used a 12v power adaptor into the socket on the dice and it worked , Dave Last edited by davebb; Oct 27th, 2019 at 16:28. |
