2l VEA D4 Timing Belt Interval Change
Hi all I was wondering if the timing belt interval of 144k miles or 10 years for the 2l VEA D4 (181) is correct or if it has changed now as according to the main dealer it's at 90k miles or 6 years? Thanks.

Yes the change interval was changed last May , the dealer is incorrect! It is 90,000 miles covered or 10 years which ever comes first ... if you just had the 90,000 mile service they say you can leave it until you are next in for servicing ..

I've never ever heard of a belt breaking on one of these , they are all more substantial than the old D5 . There must be some reason for the change , could it be money?

Thanks guys for your responses. I was worried that the shortening of the change interval being due to the belt quality not being up to the initially expected standard of 144k miles / 10 years. Though it could be just for milking money as you suggest. Thanks again.

They reduced emergency vehicles to 50000 miles so maybe they had a problem with one of those ...
