Hi ITSv40
As I understand it they clone the chip that is in the old key, and put that new chip into a new physical key. They don't move the old chip to a new key. Both keys should then work. I believe that the normal Volvo procedure would be to record centrally that a key that has been lost, generate a new key code, associate it to the vehicle then program your vehicle to use it and to lock out the code for the lost key (so it cannot be used to steal the car). Something like that anyway. HTH Steve
